LECO LIMS Integration

Carbon, sulphur and mercury numbers travel from the combustion analyzer to the certificate through more hands than most labs realize. OnLIMS captures LECO analyzer output directly, so the result that was measured is the result that gets reported.

OnLIMS is a LIMS that has run mining, smelter and environmental laboratories since 1989, and LECO LIMS integration is one of its standard instrument interfaces: LECO carbon/sulphur (C/S) analyzers and LECO mercury (Hg) analyzers in production service, connected so their results reach the worksheet without manual transcription.

How LECO results are captured

  • File or serial capture OnLIMS reads the analyzer's export through its configurable file parsers — watched folders handling CSV, TXT, XML and proprietary formats — or captures serial output over RS-232/RS-485, directly or through converters and Moxa device servers.
  • Mapped to worksheet position Each C/S or Hg result lands on its position in the OnWSH worksheet, the template that lays out samples with their standards, blanks and duplicates in sequence — so the result stays attached to the right sample.
  • Configuration, not recompilation A new LECO unit is added by configuring its interface, not by recompiling the system; where no driver exists yet, one is written as part of the project.

QA/QC on combustion data as it arrives

OnQC evaluates the CRMs, blanks and duplicates in each LECO run in real time, using Shewhart, X-Control, CUSUM and Thompson-Howarth control charts. A 2SD deviation raises a warning; a 3SD failure blocks sign-off until the deviation is resolved and justified. Any later correction is recorded in a field-level audit trail — old value, new value, user, timestamp — and results lock on publish through the Pending, Ready, Approved and Published cycle.
