XRF LIMS Integration

An XRF spectrometer already knows which sample it measured and what it found. Copying that answer into a spreadsheet by hand is where the error gets introduced. OnLIMS captures XRF and XRD output directly — by file or by serial line — and puts each result on its worksheet position.

OnLIMS is a LIMS that has run mining, smelter and industrial production laboratories since 1989, and XRF LIMS integration is one of its standard instrument interfaces — covering both XRF and XRD analyzers. The analyzer software exports its results; OnLIMS picks them up, matches them to samples, and carries them through QA/QC to the certificate without anyone retranscribing a number.

Most XRF integrations run on file exchange. OnLIMS ships 25+ configurable file parsers working on watched folders: the analyzer software drops its export — CSV, TXT, XML or a proprietary format — and OnLIMS picks the file up, parses it and maps each result to its position on the OnWSH worksheet, the template that lays out samples with their standards, blanks and duplicates in sequence. Where an instrument outputs over a serial line instead, OnLIMS captures RS-232/RS-485 directly or through converters and Moxa device servers; TCP/IP and UDP are also supported.

From capture to signed result

Captured XRF results enter the same controlled cycle as everything else in the laboratory: OnQC evaluates CRMs, blanks and duplicates in real time with Shewhart, X-Control, CUSUM and Thompson-Howarth control charts — a 2SD deviation warns, a 3SD failure blocks sign-off until resolved. Every manual change afterwards is recorded field by field — old value, new value, user, timestamp — and results lock on publish through the Pending, Ready, Approved and Published cycle.
